In 1989 the first step toward realizing a dream was accomplished with the establishment of Health Resources, Inc.
Health Resources, Inc. is the only African American owned and operated pharmacy benefit management company in the United States. Health Resources contracts with over 50,000 pharmacies nationwide for the fulfillment of prescription drugs for its plan sponsors. The company owns two affiliates: Pharmacy Services, Inc., which provides prescriptions to correctional facilities, long-term care and nursing homes and mail service prescriptions nationwide. UNIVEC, Inc., a public company, which manufactures and distributes safety syringes and other medical devices in 80 countries inclusive of the United States.

Dr. David L. Dalton
Prior to starting his business, Dr. Dalton served in several capacities with Rite Aid Corporation and rose to the rank of Corporate Vice President. His first venture was the purchase of Peoples Drug Stores with Robert Bass of Texas and Acadia Investment Partners.
He has received national and local recognition by the President and Senate of the United States. This includes receiving the Medal of Freedom, the highest honor given by the United States Senate. West Virginia University recognized and honored him as both distinguished alumni and outstanding alumni of its School of Pharmacy. He is a visiting Professor for 19 colleges and universities nationwide and serves on the Board of Directors of several private and public companies.
